Cleric laments conversion of churches to supermarkets in Europe – From Obinna Odogwu

Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr Alex Ibezim, on Sunday raised the alarm over the rapidly increasing state of idol worship, lesbianism, homosexuality and other sinful acts antithetical to the dictates of Christianity among Christians especially in the European countries. He lamented that many churches in many parts of the Western countries have been converted to supermarkets, while many believers have dumped their faith to idolatry and other religious beliefs which rub against the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Ibezim, who recently returned from evangelical tour of the USA, made this lamentation at the confirmation and admission service held at St. Michael and All Angels Parish, Nawfia in Njikoka council area of Anambra State being presided by Ven. Benjamin Ofili where 117 candidates were inducted into the order of Sacrament of Holy Communion, 66 and 36 admitted into Girls Guild and Mothers’ Union respectively.

He warned that unless Christians all over the globe wake from their slumber and carry the cross of Christ, Christianity risks extinction even before the second coming of Jesus Christ.

“Christianity is at the verge of extinction. We are rapidly folding away while evil is on the increase. Homosexuality and lesbianism are taking over everywhere. In many European countries, most of the churches have been sold out and convert to supermarkets.”

“You all have to be prayerful; holding steadfast to your faith in Jesus Christ. Don’t ever throw away your faith no matter what challenge you may encounter.”

He warned believers in Christ to desist from idolatry as its worshipers have no place in the kingdom of God.

Also speaking, the Archdeacon of Nawfia Archdeaconery, Ven. Benjamin Ofili, charged the new communicants and inductees to hold tenaciously to the rules of their organizations targeted at rising a Godly generation.
