Sokoto state: Gay marriage couples on the run

Police in Sokoto state are looking for two people accused of organizing a gay marriage in the northern Nigerian city of Sokoto.

Police stormed the venue of the wedding at the weekend. But intending gay couple escaped.

The owner of the house where the alleged ceremony took place at the weekend has been arrested but the main suspects are still at large.

Homosexual in Nigeria is illegal and anyone caught in the act will spend 14 years in jail.
