Professor (Mrs). Lilian I. Salami, a Professor of Home Economics/Nutritional Education, has been appointed Vice Chancellor by the Governing Council of the University of Benin.
Professor Salami whose appointment would take effect from
December 2nd, 2019, would take over from Professor Faraday Orumwense.

A statement by the university’s spokesman, Mr. Micheal
Osasuyi, said Prof. Salami was appointed 10th substantive VC of UNIBEN at the
157th regular meeting of the institution Governing Council.
Salami would be the second woman to be the institution’s VC
after Professor Grace Alele Williams in 1985.
Salami hails from Edo State, Nigeria and was born in Jos,
Plateau State on the 8th of August, 1956.
She was appointed Senior Lecturer in UNIBEN in 1994 and rose
to the rank of a Professor in 2005.
Salami is the Director General/Chief Executive Officer,
National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NEPA) Ondo
State.
Outside academic, she is a member of the Advisory council to
his royal majesty, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Ukukpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare
