Don’t Derail Peace In Enugu, Nwobodo Urges Politicians
  • March 3, 2023
  • Unity Times

A former governor of old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo has advised politicians to embrace peace and not to allow their interest in the 2023 governorship election to derail the existing peace in Enugu State.

Reacting to a viral video on social media where a senator-elect in the state had called on the people of his constituency to see the March 11 governorship and state assembly election as a do or die affair, Nwobodo warned against statement that could incite people against one another.

Nwobodo warned that war is a dangerous development and insisted that he wants peace to continue to exist in the state.

“Pride goes before a fall he has just been elected and he is drumming war. War is dangerous, I plead that we remain in peace,” he stated.

He urged politicians to emulate the peaceful nature of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State. Nwobodo noted that despite losing his senatorial election in Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has not abused anybody, saying his act is a mark of leadership.

“This tendency to drum up war should be cancelled, it is God that gives power, I want to inform you  of the looming danger,  I watched a video where he said the governorship election will be a do or die battle, I was shocked he could make an inciting statement. I want to plead to Nkanu People  not to react to the inciting statement,  Nsukka people are our brothers,  Peter Mbah is contesting to be governor of Enugu State from Nkanu.

“I just want peace, Ugwuanyi has  not abused anybody, I want nothing but peace in Enugu State, don’t go into war, let’s go for peace, go for peace , war is dangerous, Mbah will not discriminate,” he stated.

Reacting to the gruesome murder of the Enugu East senatorial candidate of Labour Party, Barrister Oyibo Chukwu, Nwobodo condemned the ugly development, saying anybody that kills should not be in government.

“I hate killing, I did not sign one single death warrant as a governor. I have condemned the murder of Oyibo Chukwu, the worst thing anybody can do is to murder anybody, any person who gets himself in killing should not be in government,” he said.
