IBB Returns From 2-month Medical Trip In Germany, France
  • March 3, 2023
  • Unity Times

Former military president General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has returned to Nigeria after about two-month stay in Germany and France.

LEADERSHIP Newspaper had reported that the former Nigerian leader travelled in January to avoid the controversy that would come with the presidential race even as he tagged it, “routine medical check.”

Babangida was accompanied by his daughter and first son Aisha and Muhammad respectively and they arrived Nigeria via Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.

It was learnt from family sources that IBB arrived at Minna Airport after stamping his passport at Abuja, shortly before late evening prayers (Magrib).

A family source hinted that Babangida with his two children and one of his aides was received at Abuja Airport by his second son, Aminu and a retired army general who was one of the core strategists of a presidential candidate who just lost an election.

A source further hinted that even as he was away Babangida was in touch with a very outspoken governor who was known to be a core supporter of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president-elect.

Confirming his tacit support for Tinubu, Babangida in his congratulatory message on Wednesday said that “Tinubu is coming from the background of a performer, who loves his people with all his hearts and who knows how to put a round peg in a round hole.”

“I have no doubt that Tinubu would perform as the President of Nigeria. For some of us, who have been there before, I know that there is still more work to be done, and I believe that Tinubu has what it takes to take Nigeria to the next level,” he declared.
