The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has won the governorship election in Kano state.
The candidate of the party (NNPP) Abba Kabir Yusuf, garnered 1,019,602 votes to beat his closest rival -the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, who polled 890,705 votes.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sadiq Wali, got 15,957 to come a distant third position.
INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Ahmad Doko Ibrahim, declared Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP winner.
There were 5,921,370 registered voters out of which 2,032,955 voters were accredited for the election.
Out of the total 2,400,964 votes cast, 1,977,872 votes were declared valid, while 27,092 votes were rejected.
