At the opening ceremony of event with the theme: “Continuous Training of Quality Assurance Officers, Solution for Sustaining Efficiency and Effectiveness of the Schools Towards Achieving Better Learning Outcome,” the executive chairman of SUBEB, Mr Anietie Etuk, said, “The aim of the training is to equip the Quality Assurance Officers (QAOs) with skills required to carry out efficient and effective evaluation of schools, to enhance quality learning outcomes in basic education.”

Etuk commended Governor Udom Emmanuel and UBEC for their commitment towards the provision of quality basic education in Akwa Ibom State and the country at large, by introducing an e-Quality Assurance in the school management system, describing the policy as “a paradigm shift from manual evaluation of schools to the use of electronic devices.”

“This will enhance productivity and efficiency, as well as checkmate officers who would want to cut corners without getting to the assigned schools for proper and result oriented evaluation,” he noted.

The executive secretary of UBEC, Dr Hamid Bobboyi, and the zonal director (South-South) of UBEC, Mr Akpan Osom, who were represented by assistant director, UBEC, Mr Ime Udoh, said, “The training seeks to develop new quality assurance strategies and procedures to improve the quality of teaching and learning in basic schools across Akwa Ibom State.”

He said, “It is the intention of the UBEC management that at the end of the intensive training, participants will come out more skillful and more knowledgeable to discharge their duties effectively, because quality-learning outcomes are the intended and the expected effects of the education system.”
