“The scheme would afford them the opportunity to not only put food on their table, but to also create means of livelihood to their peers. The project would create a platform for deepening dividends of democracy to all the electorates especially at the grassroots.

“It would create opportunities for housewives to make extra income, skills acquisition and development, entrepreneurial engagement and empowerment, career boosting and training etc,” he said.

He noted that the scheme is partnering with other relevant cooperative organisations, financial institutions, national and international funding/donor agencies.

“Polling units’ agents, party excos, campaign council’s members, traders, groups, community-based groups, religion groups, students groups as well as entire electorates in FCT are the beneficiaries,” Audu said.

The scheme, which is ward-based grassroot projects, would be driven by the Labour Party’s executives in 62 wards in FCT.

Comrade Audu added that, “It’s a progressive scheme, to be taken batch by batch so that in the next four years, over 248,000 electorates in the FCT might have benefited from this human capacity building project.”
