Abia Govt Threatens To Seal Banks not complying with Court Order On State Accounts
  • April 21, 2023
  • Unity Times

Abia State government has threatened to seal any commercial bank which failed to comply with a court order vacating the freezing of its accounts.

This was contained in a statement issued by the secretary to the state government, Chris Ezem, which was made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital.

A Federal High Court granted ex parte order freezing the government’s accounts even as the government claimed that the court lacked jurisdiction over the matter.

“Government, therefore, directs all banks that have transactions with it to resume normal transactions without further delay,” according to the statement.

The statement said the government warns “all those mischief makers who are bent on stalling smooth and peaceful transition through unnecessary litigations to stop forthwith.”

It said the government considered the legal action as unpatriotic and mischievous activities of some people who are bent on undermining its laudable legacies and achievements.

It added that the outgoing government had invested so much on peace and security and would not be drawn into the unfortunate plan to foist anarchy on the citizens.
