Interpol has summoned Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari over his alleged improper conduct in the state’s April 14 supplementary elections.

A letter dated April 27, 2023, from the Interpol said Mr. Yunusa Ari should report to the National Central Bureau in Abuja for interrogation.

The letter duly signed by Garba Umar, an assistant inspector-general of police in charge of Interpol, did not state explicitly a date for the INEC chief to come forth. Mr Umar’s designation also includes coordination of election monitoring and evaluation at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Mr Yunusa-Ari make the news after he hurriedly announced Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Adamawa governorship polls, an act that electoral umpire said is contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Act since collation was still ongoing.

Mr Yunusa Ari has since left Adamawa on a chartered flight after the pronouncement of the illegal results.

The suspended and now fugitive REC of Adamawa State has written to the Police from his hide out. He has been summoned to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja since April 17.
