INEC, Tinubu, APC Oppose Live Broadcast Presidential Election Tribunal

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, President-elect Bola Tinubu and his Party have asked the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) to dismiss the motion filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential flagbearer in the February 25, general election, Atiku Abubakar, seeking live broadcast of the PEPC sittings.

Also, the Independent National Electoral Commission, through its counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud SAN, told the court that the commission has filed a counter affidavit in opposition to the application.

Tinubu, INEC and APC, are the three respondents in the petition filed by Atiku and PDP.

The petitioners’ motion was dated May 5 but filed on the 7th of May, 2023.

By the motion, the Atiku and PDP are praying for an order of the court allowing the televising of the court proceeding given its monumental national importance as well as for an order directing the modalities for its implementation.

As of the time of this report, the PEPC is hearing the motion.
