The outgoing Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has announced the dissolution of his cabinet in preparation for the official handover ceremony to a new administration on 29th May.

The Governor, in a statement on Monday, directed all the appointees to strictly adhere to established procedures and promptly hand over the affairs of their offices.

Titled “Handover of Activities”, the statement was issued by the office of the Secretary to the State Government and signed by Permanent Secretary, Bilkisu Maimota.

According to the governor’s instructions, all commissioners, special advisers, chief executives of parastatals/government-owned companies, and other political appointees must ensure a seamless transition by transferring their responsibilities to the respective permanent secretaries and directors of administration and general services in their establishments.

To facilitate an orderly process, Governor Ganduje has set a deadline of May 26 for the handover of all government properties currently in possession of the appointees.

These properties are to be transferred to the designated permanent secretaries or directors of administration and general services, with copies of the handover notes sent to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for proper record-keeping.

The Governor, however, exempted government appointees whose tenures are yet to expire as guided by relevant laws of their establishments.

“It should be noted that, however, the public officers appointed into organisations that are tenure based and whose tenure has not expired should continue to hold office as stipulated by relevant laws governing their appointments”, the statement added.
