Sokoto State newly sworn in governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has pledged to rebuild the state within four years of his administration.

The oath of office was administered amid tight security on Ahmed Aliyu by the chief justice of the state, Justice Sa’idu Sifawa, shortly after Malam Idris Gobir, the deputy governor had taken his oath of office.

However, immediate past governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and his deputy, Manir Dan’Iya, boycotted the ceremony.

Ahmed, a former deputy governor in his inaugural speech, assured that his administration would be all-inclusive and promised not to betray the trust and burden of leadership bestowed on him.

“We want to assure you that we will not disappoint you with the mandate given to us and will continue to seek your advice on all our decisions.

“More so, the administration will focus on its nine-point agenda, which include security, promoting religious affairs, education, healthcare delivery, water supply, economy, agriculture, women empowerment as well as local government autonomy,” he said.

Aliyu invited the opposition in the state to join hands with him toward rebuilding the state.

Dignitaries who witnessed the swearing in ceremony include, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, former governors, Alhaji Rasheed Raji, Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim.

Others were former deputy governors, Alhaji Chiso Dattijo and Alhaji Mukhtari Shagari, former Ambassadors, Sahabi Gada and Abubakar Makama.
