NYSC Explores Strategies For Credible Corps Mobilisation
  • June 16, 2023
  • Unity Times

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) said it is evolving strategies to ensure credible mobilisation of corps members in the forthcoming 2023 Batch ‘B’ mobilisation exercise.

NYSC director-general, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed stated this in Abuja, yesterday, during the opening ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop.

Speaking on the theme, “Re-Strategizing the NYSC Mobilisation Process for Optimal Performance in the Golden Jubilee Era,” Ahmed said the workshop provides the platform for the commencement of a new batch in the service year, where strategies are fashioned for the success of the mobilisation process.

“The lessons learned from the implementation of decisions reached at the last workshop are expected to influence our deliberations towards better performance in the forthcoming 2023 Batch ‘B’ mobilization exercise.

“This workshop commenced yesterday with the training of Data Entry Officers (DEOS) from Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs), who were refreshed on the operations of the NYSC Integrated System (NIS), and were also exposed to the portal’s new features for error free uploads,” he said.

The director general also voiced concern about observed disharmony between uploads and hardcopies of documents of Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) which has unfortunately always led to their denial of enrolment for service.

“Another area of concern is the non-compliance with laid down procedures for data uploads which has invariably led to the mobilization of unqualified candidates for service,” he added.

The permanent secretary, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Mr Olusade Adesola, represented by the director, Finance and Account Social Development Secretariat, Justina Pawa, assured that it will continue to partner with the scheme to see to the successful implementation of its lofty objectives.

The director, Corps Mobilisation Department, Hajiya Isa Walida Siddique said the NYSC mobilisation process is constantly evolving, and that it is crucial that the scheme continues to equip itself  with the requisite knowledge and skills to stay ahead of the curve.

“This forum therefore prepares the ground for effective mobilisation and registration for participation in the NYSC Scheme.

“We remain committed to creating an environment that fosters growth and development of the mobilization process.

“We therefore believe that this theme is a step in the right direction, which will not just require new ideas but also attitudinal change and desire for thoroughness in data management,” she said.
