Bauchi Gov Kicks Off Malaria Vaccine Distribution

In his effort to eradicate malaria, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has, in partnership with development partners, flagged off the distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets to households in Bauchi.

The governor also kicked off this year’s malaria chemoprevention targeting about 2.2 million children for the exercise.

At the official flag-off of the campaign at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Hall Bauchi, yesterday, the governor said 4.4 million nets will be distributed to families across the state to reduce the spread of malaria among its population.

He said the move became necessary considering the consequential effects of malaria on pregnant women and under-five children.

Governor Bala assured development partners that support the campaign of the readiness of his administration to ensure the prompt release of counterpart funding for the timely execution of health-related projects for the overall well-being of the people of the state.

The exercise was supported by the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), United States Government President Malaria Initiative (PMI-US) and Breakthrough Action Nigeria.
