FG to vaccinates 7.5m people in Jigawa, Delivers 6m Doses Of Yellow Fever Vaccine

National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA) has delivered six million doses of Yellow Fever Vaccine to the Jigawa State government to vaccinate about 7.5 million people in the state.

Speaking to newsmen during the inspection of the vaccines delivered to the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, the state immunisation officer, Alhaji Hassan Shuaibu Kwalam said preparation has gone far for the take-up of the 2023 yellow fever preventive mass vaccination campaign (PMVC) in the state.

Kwalam said 7,472,505 people are targeted for the PMVC exercise that will be conducted by the NPHDA in collaboration with Jigawa State government.

He said residents between nine months and 44 years are the main focus for the exercise that will be carried out in 27 local government areas of the state.

“As part of the preparation for the exercise, we have already trained 1,728, for managing the exercise in our 287 political wards, with three teams to cover one political ward each.

“For the success of the exercise we will engage traditional/religious leaders, civil societies, community groups, security agencies and other stakeholders and solicit their support,” Kwalam stated.

 The immunisation officer added that the remaining balance of the vaccine dosage will be received before the commencement of the exercise scheduled to begin before the end of this July.
