APC Urges Ganduje to ignore Summons by Anti-graft Agency over Dollar Video

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has urged the former governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to ignore the summons from the state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

The commission had requested Ganduje’s presence next week to provide crucial information regarding an ongoing investigation.

The executive chairman of the anti-graft commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, had disclosed during an interview on Channels TV’s Lunchtime Politics that a letter had been sent to the former governor, urging him to comply with the invitation.

However, the APC in Kano has expressed suspicion, accusing the Kano state government of orchestrating a plan to discredit Ganduje.

The APC Chairman in Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, and the party’s secretary, Alhaji Zakari Sarina, claim that this move resembled a previous politically motivated attempt to impede Ganduje’s chances of securing the party’s gubernatorial ticket in 2019. They said that the intention behind these actions was to tarnish the reputation of the former governor, as well as create a rift between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is a key ally of Ganduje in the North.

“We have realised that the reenactment of the politically motivated issue of the Dollar video by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) which is before a court of law, is part of a sinister ploy to dent the image of the former governor.”

“A similar scenario was played to scuttle the former governor’s chance of securing ticket for the party’s gubernatorial election in 2019.”

The statement expressed appreciation for Ganduje’s contributions to the Tinubu political project, particularly during the primary election. It also underscored the continued cordial relationship between Ganduje and President Tinubu.

Recall that the anti-graft agency boss had stated that if Ganduje fails to comply with the summons, the agency will employ legal measures outlined in the law.
