All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has denied ceding the ministerial slot for the state to the immediate-past governor of the state, Nyesom Ezenwo Nyesom.
APC publicity secretary in the state, Darlington Nwauju, who made the denial yesterday while briefing newsmen at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, the state capital, said Wike is still a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nwauju stated that former chief of staff, Rivers State Government House, Chief Tony Okocha, who is also the leader of the Amalgamated Bola Tinubu Campaign Council in the state, is not a member of APC.
He said, “Our attention has been drawn to publications made on national dailies in the name of Rivers State APC purporting to have ceded the ministerial slot of the state to the immediate-past Governor of the state, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
“The state chapter of the APC has never interacted with the Amalgamated Bola Tinubu Campaign Council, which the purveyors of that falsehood claim to represent, as we have more than 100 NGOs and support groups that are duly registered with us, who also worked for APC in the last general election.
“For the purposes of clarity, no NGO or individual outside the officially recognised party structure, has the authority or mandate of our party; that is the state chapter of APC, to award any entitlement or honour or recognition to anybody whatsoever, not the least, the former governor of the state.
“Wike is obviously, as at today, a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). We wonder where the group or individual derived its power to speak for APC.
“However, for the umpteenth time, we want to say that Tony Okocha is not a member of our great party and we have not reviewed any communication from the national secretariat of our party, pointing to him being granted any waiver to join our party.”
