The permanent secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,  Muhammad Sani Yeldu, had earlier told the gathering that following the governor’s directive, his ministry has constituted committees for the distribution of the product. The committees consist of local government chairman, district head, party chairman, councillor, security agents and woman leader of each of the 21 local government areas.

According to him, each council will receive 6,000 bags of the fertiliser with the exception of Birnin Kebbi that will receive 9000 bags.

The event was held at Kardi town under Birnin Kebbi local government area where Governor Idris directed all the committees of the 21 local government areas to immediately commence the distribution without delay.

He warned that any member of the committee caught diverting or selling the commodity would be sacked by the government.

Idris said as part of his campaign promises and in order for the government to reach the people particularly the poor, he would soon award contracts for some major projects to beautify the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.

He said the government will also purchase assorted grains which would be distributed to people aimed at curbing the present hardship in the state.
