Gun-wielding arsonists have burnt down a five-bedroom duplex belonging to the House of Representatives’ member for Ihiala federal constituency of Anambra State, Dr Paschal Agbodike.
The arsonists, according to sources, invaded the legislator’s residence in his Ubahi-Mbosi village in Ihiala local government area at about 1am yesterday shooting sporadically before setting the house ablaze.

The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident. He said surveillance efforts have been put in place in the area.
He also said the affected residence of the lawmaker who was the immediate past deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly has been condoned off and that security operatives have been deployed there to ensure that further attacks were not carried out there, including looting of property.
“A team of security operatives have been deployed to the area and they are assessing the situation. There is ongoing surveillance by the operatives”, the police image-maker stated further.
When contacted, Agbodike said no life was lost in the incident, but lamented that his fully-furnished five-bedroom duplex with four living rooms and a kitchen was razed down by the hoodlums.
Agbodike said he was informed about the incident on the telephone by his relatives at home.
The lawmaker said he was told that before security operatives could arrive at his house, the hoodlums had fled.
