A six-year-old boy, Friday Oshodi, has been buried alive for allegedly stealing N1,000 in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

The victim was buried alive by his biological brother in a bushy area close to the community.
A source said that the mother of the boys ordered the older ones to punish the youngest son after realizing that the money was missing where she kept it.
The elder brother, Goodness Oshodi, allegedly carried the boy to the bush, dug a hole and buried the boy alive and returned home.
He said the cry of the little boy drew the attention of the people in the bush, and they promptly rescued the boy and took him home.
When contacted, the police public relations officer, Willy Aya, confirmed the incident and said the suspect had been arrested and was undergoing interrogation.
The police spokesman, however, said the victim had stolen some household items and ran away from home for about two months, only to resurface yesterday to steal another N10,000, which made the mother instruct the eldest son to discipline the boy.
Contrary to the confession of the elder brother in the trending video that his younger brother actually stole N1,000 to warrant the unusual punishment, the police authorities said it was N10,000 and not N1,000 that was stolen.
