APC Chairman Suspended Over Alleged Rape

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has suspended the embattled Roni local government area party chairman, Alhaji Sale Idris.

He was arrested for alleged rape and for impregnating a 14-year-old girl.

The suspension was contained in a letter signed by the state’s party chairman, Hon Aminu Sani Gumel and made available to newsmen.

According to the letter, the allegations against Sale contravened Article 21.2 (Vii) and (X) of the APC Constitution 2022 as amended.

The letter directed Sale to hand the local government party affairs over to the vice chairman to allow legal process to take its full course.

Sale Idris, 56-year-old, was arrested by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly raping his house girl.

According to the NSCDC, the suspect was arrested on Wednesday following a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother that the suspect raped and impregnated his 14-year-old sister who was a house help at the suspect’s residence.

“A brother to the victim reported the case at NSCDC Roni LGA Division after the suspect refused to take responsibility for the pregnancy. Instead, he was pressuring the family to go for abortion,” NSCDC revealed.
