  • November 5, 2023
  • Unity Times

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State government has approved the disbursement of bursary to indigenous students in tertiary institutions of learning. Eno said the payment would be digitally processed. He urged the beneficiaries to key in digitally for easy access.

The governor who addressed the management team of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo, the state capital at the weekend, said the digitalisation of the bursary payment process “is to ensure speed, integrity and ease in disbursement of the funds to deserving students,” assuring that “government is working towards the timely activation of the process.”

He said, “As a government, we are reintroducing the bursary scheme for our tertiary education students. The ministry is working with universities so that we can perfect the process to make it easier for them. Once they apply and we double check with the data base of the universities or tertiary institutions, we would pay them immediately.”

Governor Eno commended the institution for the impactful role it has played in furthering the education of Akwa Ibom people, noting that the location of the institution has been of enormous advantage to the indigenes and the social system.

He said the ‘ARISE Agenda’ blueprint of his administration, was paying priority attention to education especially at the primary level, stressing that government under his leadership would create a solid foundation at the basic level.

The vice chancellor who led the delegation, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, congratulated Governor Eno on his victory at the last gubernatorial election and at the tribunal.
