Youths in Sokoto have protested against the high cost of living in Nigeria.
The protesters took off in the Tudun Wada area of the state, marched through Emir Yahaya Road, and terminated the protest in front of Government House.

Chanting “Beans is expensive,” “Maize is expensive,” and “Fuel is expensive”, with different inscriptions on placards, but no government official attended to them, till they dispersed.
Abdullahi Muhammad, who spoke on behalf of the protesters, said the situation is pushing the people to the wall.
“It is surprising how nobody is trying to bring the prices of commodities down. We elected these people hoping that things would be better, but things are getting worse. We need price control to ensure stability in the prices of goods,” he said.
He also accused traders of hoarding goods and unnecessarily increasing the prices of commodities, calling on the government to put more effort into supervising businesses.
A survey on the price of staple food at Sokoto central market uncovered that a mudu of foreign rice is now sold for N3,800 while that of local rice is sold for N2,800.
A mudu (measure) of garri is N1,250, a mudu of maize flour is N1,700 and a mudu of beans is N2,800.
