President Bola Tinubu is expected in Abia State on the 24th of this month to commission the Geometric Power Company Ltd. plant in Aba.

On December 29, President Tinubu, through Vice President Kashim Shettima, unveiled the Peace in South-East Project, initiated by House of Representatives deputy speaker, Benjamin Kalu in Bende.

The state commissioner for information and culture, Prince Okey Kanu, announced this, yesterday, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti in Umuahia, the capital.

“We want to inform you that the administration has worked assiduously behind the scenes to ensure that the project is realised because when the plant comes on stream it will benefit the people,” he said.

Kanu said the administration knows that the project will help residents of the state’s commercial hub and the business community a great deal because power has been one of their greatest challenges.

“So, once the plant is commissioned, quite a lot of things will change in Aba business environment,” he noted, adding that the event will signify the commitment of the administration to create conducive business space.

He also used the forum to announce that the administration had vowed to recover all government landed property acquired contrary to the laid down process no matter who was involved.

The commissioner said the council expressed dismay that some private schools in the state that had been shut down by the government for operating below required standards had been reopened.

Kanu, who described the development as a flagrant abuse of government directives, warned proprietors of the schools to respect the directive or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
