Tinubu approves appointment of Board Chairs, CEOs under Ministry of Health
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment and reappointment of board chairpersons and chief executive officers under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, this is in furtherance of his determination to bring world class standards to Nigerian public health administration and to manifest his commitment to deliver affordable and quality care to all Nigerians under governance and regulatory frameworks commensurate with international best practice
The appointments are National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), where the board chairperson is Dr. Mansur Kabir, while Prof. Moji Adeyeye was reappointed as the director general of the agency.
The National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) has Prof. Abba Zubairu as board chairperson, while the Chief Executive Officer is Dr. Saleh Yuguda.
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has Prof. Afolabi Lesi as the board chairperson and Dr. Fatima Kyari as the chief executive officer.
The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has Pharm. Wasilat Giwa as the chairperson of the board and Pharm. Ibrahim Ahmed as the chief executive officer.
Others are the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), where Dr. Babajide Salako was appointed chairperson and the chief executive officer is Dr. Tosan Erhabor.
At Moddibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola (MAUTH), Prof. Adamu G. Bakari was appointed the chief medical director / CEO, while at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua (ISTH), Prof. Reuben Eifediyi was appointed the chief medical director / CEO.
Furthermore, Ngelale said that as part of efforts to bolster the resiliency of Nigeria’s public health surveillance and security architecture, President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of a new chief executive officer for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to assume office on February 19, 2024. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has Dr. Olajide Idris as its director general / CEO.
Moreover, the presidential spokesman said it is pertinent to note that President Tinubu has painstakingly considered the wealth of experience of each qualified and aforementioned Nigerian, who will be tasked with driving his Renewed Hope Agenda in the sector.
