Corruption: Kano Govt To Arraign Ganduje, Wife on April 17

The Kano State Government will on April 17, 2024, arraign the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, before the State High Court on an eight-count charge concerning on alleged dollar bribery, misappropriation and diversion of funds running into billions of naira.

Ganduje is the immediate past Governor of Kano State. He will be arraigned, along with his wife and others for conspiracy.

The Kano State Government alleged that Ganduje in 2016 corruptly asked for and received $200,000 from a contractor, being kicked back on a public contract.

Therefore, the APC National chairman is accused of engaging in official corruption punishable under Section 22 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended), Law No. 2 of 2009.

Ganduje is also accused of collecting $213,000 generated from people and entities seeking or holding the execution of a Kano government contract for the remodelling of the Kantin Kwari textile market, as a bribe through one of the contractors in 2017.

Ganduje’s wife and others will be arraigned for culpability in those transactions.
