Information gathered revealed that the gunmen stormed the community on Sunday at midnight to carry out their operation, which lasted for over an hour without interference from any of the security agencies.

A resident of the community who preferred anonymity said that the Madaki of the community, Chief John Jatau, confirmed that 10 residents were kidnapped from his domain and four nomadic Fulani herdsmen.

He said that that of the four Fulani people, one escaped from the kidnappers’ custody, saying that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N900 million.

“The kidnapping incident occurred last night, Sunday, May 5, at about 11 pm. The kidnappers raided the village for about one hour without any response, or reaction from the community or outsiders.

“The major challenge the community faced last night in terms of communication with others was, as a result of no telecommunication network in the village, they picked people from house to house. From the community, they picked about 13 people, and later released three.

“The Madaki of Piko told me that they have called, and they said they demand a ransom of N900,000,000. They picked about four Fulani people, and one of them was released,” he said.

He identified the people kidnapped from his community as Nuhu Anyiwoyi, Emmanuel Nuhu, Danjuma Ali, Parisa Numa, Ezekiel Jatau, Shekwosa Ezekiel, Roseline Samuel, Salome Jacob, Abyelo Ezra, and Ezra Male.

The FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, did not confirm or refute the kidnapping incident at press time.
