APC introduces electronic registration for members
  • August 29, 2024

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced the party’s plan to introduce an electronic registration system for its members to accurately determine their number and quality.

Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, made this disclosure on Thursday during a meeting with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abuja.

He explained, “We are introducing electronic registration of our members, not only to know the actual numbers but also to know the quality of the data and the variety of the data.”

Ganduje further elaborated, “You will know precisely the age groups of members of your party because if you want to hit a particular age group, you will be able to address it depending on your need assessment of that age group.”

He noted that operating in an analogue manner has often made it difficult to accurately gauge membership data, saying, “You know, there are issues of sex, age, profession, educational level, and so on. So, it will give us data that will help us while campaigning; we will know how to hit our targets.”

Ganduje also highlighted that the electronic registration will assist in evaluating the promises made to various demographic groups during campaigns, guiding governance to ensure that commitments are fulfilled.

In addition, the party has recognised the high level of unemployment, particularly among the youth.

Ganduje revealed that this issue has prompted the party to organise a national conference to address it.

He added, “We will soon know how we can modernise or reform our national curriculum, even including university curriculum, so that the graduates we will produce will be employable graduates, not unemployable graduates like we are having now.”
