The executive chairman of Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), Abdulkareem Sulyman, disclosed these during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin yesterday.
Sulyman said that the payment of compensation on the land acquired for livestock production in Malete has reached 70% completion while the payment of compensation for the land acquired along the Ilorin-Ogbomoso road was being processed.
He added that preliminary activities have been concluded on the 19,000 hectares of land earmarked for the Ilorin SmartCity project.
He disclosed that the ongoing reform, which led to the collation and harmonization of all agencies dealing with lands-related matters and the transition from analogue to digital lands operations, has greatly minimised bottlenecks, enhanced efficiency, and curtailed the activities of land grabbers in the state.
Sulyman noted that the automation system initiated by the state government has ensured proper administration and management of land and building matters in the state.
“The success of my agency is tied to the visionary leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in making sure that developmental activities in the state are in line with the state’s master plan in order to promote growth and rapid development,” he added.
He added that the ongoing reform and automation of land administration has boosted the state’s internally generated revenue.
Sulyman clarified that the ongoing reclamation exercise of government setbacks around public offices and institutions in the state is purely a federal government directive, aimed at curbing insecurity across the country.
