The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully dismantled a bandit logistics hub and neutralised scores of terrorists in Alawa Forest, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, during a three-day operation.
The operation, codenamed “KONAN DAJI,” was conducted following credible intelligence and aerial surveillance, which revealed a significant presence of heavily armed terrorists in the area.

The terrorists were suspected to be responsible for the deadly IED attacks in Bassa, Shiroro LGA, on December 19, 2024, that resulted in numerous casualties and widespread panic.
NAF fighter jets carried out precision airstrikes on identified terrorist hideouts, resulting in multiple secondary explosions, indicating the destruction of weapons and ammunition.
The operation, part of the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has significantly weakened the operational capabilities of the bandits and rendered the Alawa Forest uninhabitable for their activities.
Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information at the NAF Headquarters, emphasized the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining national security.
He stated that operations like KONAN DAJI demonstrate the NAF’s resolve to protect Nigerians from terrorism and other security threats.
