The scholarship recipients will be the first batch of students to enroll at seven newly established study centres of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, located across Kano Central and South Senatorial Districts.

In a statement issued to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, the special adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, said Senator Barau and the university’s management had finalized arrangements to establish the study centres in the two senatorial districts over the weekend.

Representing the university during the discussions were Prof. Abubakar Sadik Suleiman, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences and a board member of the College of Professional and Continuing Studies, and Dr. Jamilu Ajiya, Acting Provost of the College of Professional and Continuing Studies.

This initiative follows Senator Barau’s previous efforts in Kano North Senatorial District, where he facilitated the establishment of four study centres in Gwarzo, Danbatta, Dawakin Tofa, and Gabasawa local government areas. More than 1,000 students are currently enrolled in degree programmes at these centres.

Expanding his commitment to education, Senator Barau is now setting up seven study centres in Kano Central and South Senatorial Districts, located in Madobi, Kiru, Tudun Wada, Rano, Gaya, Dawakin Kudu, and Minjibir local government areas. These centres will offer degree and diploma programmes from the university.

To support the launch, Senator Barau is providing scholarships to 1,000 students from Kano Central and South to study ICT-related courses.

“Education is the bedrock of the development of all nations. I will continue to work towards providing quality education to our people across the 44 LGAs,” said Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament.
