Following the outrage over the revelation that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa was denied a visa, the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria has addressed the issue.

In a statement issued on Friday, February 14, the Commission said it was aware of the media reports on Musa’s visa denial.
It, however, stated that for privacy reasons, the Commission would not be making public details of the applicants visa application status.
It said, “The High Commission of Canada in Nigeria is aware of media reports related to planned travel by senior officials.
“However, for privacy reasons, we are unable to comment on the status of visa applications of specific individuals,” the “Commission said in the statement.
Recall that the CDS at a meeting had announced that he was due to travel to Canada alongside some senior officers in the military in honour of veterans across the globe.
He, however, stated that while some officers got their visa, he and some others got a denial.
Reacting to the ordeal by the CDS, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said the action of the embassy was embarrassing to Nigeria.
Ribadu, in his response, said Canada can “go to hell” for denying the CDS a visa to travel to the country.
