Councilors in Shira local government area of Bauchi State have impeached chairman of the council, Abdullahi Bello and his deputy, Usman Adamu over gross misconduct, failure to discharge duties and abuse of office.
The impeachment follows the submission of a report by the committee set up to investigate the allegations levelled against the chairman and his deputy.

According to the council leader, Shira local government, Wali Adamu, both the impeached chairman and deputy were found guilty in the report of the committee set up to investigate the allegations.
“The chairman and his deputy were found guilty of financial mismanagement, failure to perform duties, breach of trust and abuse of office.
“The council hereby declared office of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Shira local government vacant,” Adamu said.
The council also approved the appointment of Wali Adamu, the council leader, as acting chairman of Shira local government pending the conduct of elections in the area.
