The meeting, sources within the corridors of power said may not be unconnected with his stewardship in Rivers State within the last six months.

The meeting which lasted for about two hours held behind closed doors, with Ibas clearly ignoring reporters yearning to have his views about the governance challenges he may have encountered in the oil rich state of Rivers.

A retired Vice Admiral and former Chief of Naval Staff, Ibas was appointed by Tinubu six months ago as sole administrator to oversee Rivers State following heightened political tension in the state.

Tinubu had hinged Ibas appointment on the need to restore peace, after declaring a state of emergency in Rivers.

His appointment was part of efforts to stabilise governance and maintain federal oversight amid disputes between political factions.

Before his appointment, Ibas served as Nigeria’s Chief of Naval Staff from 2015 to 2021, bringing decades of military and administrative experience to his new role.

Only few hours ago, the reinstated Governor Siminalaye Fubara also visited President Tinubu, where he pledged to maintain peace and stability in the state.

According to Fubara, his visit was to intimate the president that he was back on the job and had to sought advice on how to guarantee peaceful governance.
