Binance founder accuses Nigeria of kidnap, after Trump plans military attack
  • November 2, 2025
  • Unity Times

Changpeng Zhao, Binance co-founder, has accused Nigeria of abduction and detention of its staff for several months by government authorities.

Mr Zhao made this call in a post on X, reporting that U.S. secretary of war Pete Hegseth announced plans to invade Nigeria to kill off rampaging bandits and terrorists over the massacre of Christians.

“Nigeria also basically kidnapped Tigran Gambaryan, an ex-Binance employee and an ex-U.S. federal agent, for 8 months without cause a year ago,” Mr Zhao said over looming America’s military attack on Nigerian soil.

Binance representatives to Nigeria, Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, were arrested in February 2024 by Nigerian security agencies.

They were arrested following an official invitation from National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu on allegations that Binance was facilitating currency speculation that undermines the naira.

While Mr Anjarwalla escaped from detention and fled Nigeria in March 2024, Mr Gambaryan was held in Kuje Prisons for eight months until former U.S. President Joe Biden intervened.

Mr Trump on Friday declared Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern’, following it up with a threat to invade Nigeria to kill terrorists over alleged Christian genocide.
