Trump’s Threat: Tinubu should act fast before it’s too late-U.S. lawmaker

“President Trump has provided forewarning if you do not correct the current state of inaction to stop the killing of our brothers and sisters in Christ in your country,” he said.

U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to cooperate with President Donald Trump over a potential military attack on Nigerian soil.

Several American lawmakers have accused Mr Tinubu of not doing enough to protect Christians in the North against wanton killings orchestrated by hordes of killer herdsmen, bandits, and terrorists. They accused the Nigerian government of turning a blind eye to “Christian genocide”.

“To the Government of Nigeria & @officialABAT: President Trump has provided forewarning if you do not correct the current state of inaction to stop the killing of our brothers and sisters in Christ in your country,” Mr Moore said on Saturday. “I urge you to cooperate with us in preventing this atrocity that worsens every day.”

Mr Moore, who wrote a letter to the U.S. secretary of state, Marco Rubio, calling for Nigeria to be designated as a ‘country of particular concern’, warned Mr Tinubu not to try Mr Trump’s resolve.

“The president (Mr Trump) has been clear. I would not test his resolve. Many have tried and all have failed. We will not allow the gates of hell to prevail against the faithful,” the lawmaker told the Nigerian leader.

Mr Trump on Friday designated Nigeria as a ’country of particular concern’, citing the widespread violent killings of Christians by Islamic jihadists.

Meanwhile, U.S. secretary of war Pete Hegseth has announced plans to invade Nigeria to kill off rampaging bandits and terrorists over the massacre of Christians.

“Yes, sir. The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria anywhere—must end and immediately. The Department of War is preparing for action,” Mr Hegseth said in a post on X on Saturday. “Either the Nigerian Government protects Christians, or we will kill the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”
