At least 42 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana’s Ashanti region following court rulings over alleged offences including prostitution, fraud and related criminal activities.

Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti regional minister, confirmed the deportations on Thursday in a Facebook post, saying the removals followed judicial processes involving multiple cases.

Amoakohene said the deportees included 42 Nigerians, 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals and seven citizens of Benin, bringing the total number of affected foreign nationals to 68.

“A total of 42 Nigerians, 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals and seven Benin nationals have been deported from the Ashanti Region to their respective countries following various court rulings involving Q-Net, prostitution and other criminal activities,” he wrote.

The minister praised the Ghana Immigration Service for what he described as professional and lawful enforcement, adding that its coordination with the courts and other security agencies helped protect public safety while respecting due process.

“Their collaboration continues to strengthen law and order in the region,” he added.
