Health officials said the advisory became necessary after reports of outbreaks in parts of Europe and concerns linked to international travel movements.
The NCDC urged Nigerians, especially travellers and healthcare providers, to remain vigilant and observe preventive hygiene measures.
Hantavirus is a rare but potentially dangerous viral disease commonly transmitted through contact with infected rodents, their urine or droppings.
Medical experts say symptoms may include fever, headaches, muscle pain and severe respiratory complications in extreme cases.
The development follows reports that a cruise vessel, MV Hondius, was evacuated in the Canary Islands after a deadly outbreak linked to the virus.
Authorities say Nigeria has not recorded any confirmed outbreak but surveillance measures have been strengthened at airports and border points.
