WHO Raises Alarm as Ebola Death Toll Reaches 220

The World Health Organization and the Africa Centres for Disease Control have intensified emergency surveillance measures after the Ebola outbreak in Central Africa claimed at least 220 lives.

International health agencies say the outbreak is spreading rapidly across affected regions, triggering nearly $500 million in global emergency response pledges.

Border monitoring, airport screening, and regional containment efforts have now been strengthened across several African countries, including Nigeria.

Health experts are urging governments to act swiftly to prevent cross-border transmission and avoid a repeat of previous continental outbreaks.
