The United States Supreme Court has delivered a landmark constitutional judgment reaffirming the principle of birthright citizenship, preserving one of the longest-standing interpretations of the country’s Constitution.

The ruling maintains that children born on American soil are entitled to citizenship regardless of their parents’ immigration status, consistent with the Fourteenth Amendment.

Legal scholars say the judgment represents an important affirmation of constitutional precedent and limits executive attempts to redefine citizenship through administrative action.

The decision has significant implications for immigrant communities, international students, foreign workers and Nigerians residing in the United States.

Immigration experts expect the ruling to influence future debates on migration policy as the United States continues preparing for another election cycle.
