The Anambra state government has renamed the state International Cargo and Passenger Airport after the late famed novelist, Chinua Achebe.
The state governor Chukwuma Soludo paid tribute to Achebe during an Independence Day ceremony in the state on Sunday.

The author of Things Fall Apart and Arrow of God, among other celebrated stories, passed away in 2013 at the age of 82.
“Yesterday, I paid special tribute to an unsung Hero, Late Professor Chinua Achebe,” Soludo said in a Facebook post on Monday.
“Since a society ultimately mirrors what it celebrates, we choose to have a land where intellect and enterprise are celebrated.
“After wide consultation and broad consensus, we committed to renaming the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport Umueri to Chinua Achebe International Airport Umueri.”
