According to sources, the armed attackers stormed the residence in an attempt to break in but were met with resistance. Although the chairman and his family were inside at the time, they managed to escape harm.
However, the attack caused significant damage to parts of the house.
Malumfashi LGA is among the areas in Katsina State that are frequently plagued by insecurity. Reports indicate that terrorist attacks, including killings, abductions, and cattle rustling, have become a regular occurrence in several local councils, particularly those close to forest reserves.
The state government, through the Community Watch Corps (CWC), has been working alongside security agencies to combat banditry.
Meanwhile, Tuesday’s attack raises fresh concerns over the effectiveness of current measures and the need for enhanced security strategies.
As of the time of this report, the Katsina State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the incident.
