Edo State governor Monday Okpebholo has restored to former governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, the parcel of land situated at Aiguobasimwin Avenue in the Government Reservation Area of Benin whose Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) was revoked by the immediate past governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki.

The land in question was subsequently reallocated to a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Matthew Iduoriyekemwen by Obaseki.

Gov Okpebholo similarly restored to Captain Nogie Megisson the parcel of land, which the Certificate of Occupancy was also revoked by the former governor.

In a statement, the Edo State Information and Communications Commissioner, Paul Ohonbamu, said Governor Okpebholo believed Obaseki’s action was maliciously and politically motivated.

According to Ohonbamu, a lawyer, “For the Governor, such actions are repugnant to civility, natural justice, equity and good conscience and cannot be allowed to stand.

“There are several other lands revoked by Obaseki that follow the same pattern and are altogether ineffectual and barren.

“It is Governor Monday Okpebholo’s position that public goods cannot be sacrificed at the altar of political considerations”.
