Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has shared the emotional moment Guinness World Records officially confirmed her latest achievement: the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
The confirmation came on Monday after GWR revealed that Baci, in collaboration with food brand Gino Nigeria, set a new record at the Gino World Jollof Festival in Lagos, producing a staggering 8,780kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) of jollof rice.

In a seven-minute video posted on Instagram, Hilda Baci captured behind-the-scenes clips showing the tense wait with her family and loved ones before a video call from a GWR official; a representative of Gino Nigeria also joined the call.
During the call, the GWR official confirmed that the recipe and distribution process had met the organisation’s standards and that all required evidence had been submitted.
He said, “With a total of 8,780 kg, Hilda Baci and Gino, you are the Guinness World Records title holders for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. Congratulations, you are officially amazing!”
Reacting to the confirmation, Baci expressed gratitude to her team and supporters for making the historic accomplishment possible.
“The entire team went above and beyond. It’s my name and Gino on this record, but this record is dedicated to every person who worked on this. This project was bigger than us. It’s historic,” she said.
She also expressed gratitude in her caption, “This moment isn’t just mine, it belongs to Gino and to all of us. This record was made possible because Gino created the platform for this history to happen.
“To the tireless team that worked day and night, to every cheer, every prayer, every hand that helped stir, pack, and serve… this Guinness World Record was built on unity, love, and collective strength.
“We made history together. For Nigeria, for Africa, and for everyone who believes in the power of food to bring us closer, this win is yours too.”
