Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Saturday presented a brand-new car to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The Speaker of the House, Martins Amaewhule, handed over the car keys to Wike during a ceremony held in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Speaking at the event, Amaewhule described the lawmakers as Wike’s “other children” residing at the Rivers State House of Assembly quarters and said the gift was a Christmas token to appreciate him.
He said the presentation was to mark the 2025 Christmas celebration, adding that the lawmakers would be waiting for Wike again in 2026.
“Your Excellency, now that you have started, you will not stop. By 2026, we will be waiting for you, and hopefully our wives will save more money to buy a better gift,” he said.
Amaewhule noted that the gift, a 2025 Toyota Camry, was presented on behalf of the lawmakers, their spouses and children.
“We know you already have many, but please add this one to the ones you already have,” he added.
