The Nigerian Government has warned Nigerians in Iran to limit movement and exercise heightened caution after the United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a statement signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson of the ministry of foreign affairs, the government said it is monitoring the “evolving and volatile situation” in the Middle East.

The advisory comes amid reports that explosions and air strikes have been heard and seen across parts of Tehran and other Iranian cities following the joint offensive by US and Israeli forces.
Nigerians in Iran and neighbouring Gulf countries were urged to remain vigilant at all times and avoid strategic, military or government installations that could become potential flashpoints.
The statement said citizens should strongly consider restricting non-essential travel within the region until the security situation stabilises.
It also advised Nigerians to avoid large gatherings and public demonstrations, and to strictly comply with security directives from local authorities.
The ministry urged citizens to stay informed through reliable local and international media and to be cautious of misinformation.
It added that the Nigerian embassies in Tehran and Gulf countries such as Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are on high alert to provide consular support.
The government also called on parties involved in the conflict to de-escalate tensions and pursue diplomatic solutions “for the interests of global peace and coexistence.”
The situation remains fluid, with Iran reported to have launched retaliatory strikes across the Middle East, including at US military bases and Israeli targets, after the initial joint attack.
