Announcing the initiative in Abuja, Head of Service, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, said the scheme will be implemented through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board.
The programme will provide flexible financing options, including loans for home ownership, renovation, rent support, and incremental building projects.
Walson-Jack highlighted the broader impact of home ownership, noting that it fosters stability, confidence, and improved work performance among civil servants.
Also speaking, Shehu Usman Osidi, Managing Director of FMBN, described the initiative as a “renewed commitment” to workers’ welfare, stressing that access to decent housing is central to dignity and national development.
Beyond housing, the government also announced additional incentives, including enhanced retirement benefits and improved allowances, aligning public sector compensation with current economic realities.
