  • Unity Times
As part of the on-going police recruitment the Police Service Commission has shortlisted ‎a total of 110, 469 applicants for the next phase of the exercise, which will involve writing of aptitude texts.
A breakdown of the applicants for the aptitude texts billed for Monday, August 22, 2016, include 22,454, for Cadet ASPs, comprising 10, 290 for general duties and 12,164 for specialists; 24,456 for Cadet Inspectors, comprising 11,639 for general duty and 12, 817 for speciaities and 63, 559 for Constables, comprising 40,492 for general duties and 23,067 for specialities.
This is even as the screening of specialities, ‎would commence on Monday, August 29, after they would have taken their aptitude tests.
The commission ‎stated that the shortlisted applicants were chosen from the 338, 250, which were screened at the state commands of the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
Speaking on the successes of the screening exercise, the chairman of the PSC, Dr. Mike Okiro, a former Inspector General of Police said 115 applicants were arrested in various states for breaches, ranging from forged documents, impersonation, among others.
‎The PSC chairman, while addressing the media in Abuja, further noted that the some of the challenges experienced in the screen period were paucity of funds and challenges of venues but the Commission and its staff, carefully managed it well.
It would be recalled that this is the first time the Nigeria Police Force will be recruiting massively in the past five years after President Mohammed Buhari gave the approval for the recruitment of 10,000 police officers.
