President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Afrobeats singer Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, for earning a Grammy Award at the prestigious event of 2023. Femi Adesina ,the President’s spokesman, said on Monday that Buhari was proud of the young singer’s achievements, noting that she had put Nigeria in the global spotlight for the second time.
On 5 February, Tems made history by winning the “Best Melodic Rap Performance” category at the Grammy Awards. Buhari also commended Burna Boy, an Afrobeats star, who was nominated in two categories but did not win the Grammy Award.
